The Campaign
The Southern Ocean Gas Exchange Experiment (SO GasEx) was a multi-agency field investigation that focused on quantifying gas transfer velocities within the marine air boundary layer. SO GasEx had one deployment during the austral fall of 2008 across the Southern Ocean. The NOAA Ronald. H Brown research vessel was equipped with several in situ and remote sensors to collect measurements of trace gases, aerosols, and ocean properties. Other water platforms such as drifting and moored buoys and an underwater surface vehicle (USV) were also deployed. SO GasEx was funded by NASA, NOAA, and NSF.

Additional Notes
GasEx had two previous deployments in 1998 and 2001. Only the information for 2008 deployment is in this inventory since NASA only participated in that deployment.
